Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nkwanta South constituency of the Volta region are going to the polls today to elect a candidate to represent the party in the 2016 elections.

The poll was put on hold during the November 2015 nationwide parliamentary primaries by the party hierarchy for reasons they described as “strategic”.

Five aspirants including the incumbent MP, Gershon Bediame, are contesting in the Saturday primaries in which over 17,000 card bearing members of the NDC are voting in 90 polling centres across the constituency.

The other aspirants are, a business man, Geoffrey Kini, Dr Felix Anebor, a political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Narayana Osei Nyarko Charles, banker and a lawyer and also one Solomon Bagme.

Julius Kwashigah, the constituency secretary told Starr News the party has made available all logistics to the district office of the Electoral Commission to conduct the elections.

The Regional Security Council has deployed a team of police and military personnel to the constituency to ensure law and order during the exercise.
