Mahama not only incompetent but insensitive – Ibrahim Murtala

President John Dramani Mahama is not only incompetent in the governance of the country but is also insensitive to the needs of the people of the country, especially the people of the three regions in the north, Mohammed Ibrahim Murtala, Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said.

According to him, Mr. Mahama has blatantly reneged on the campaign promises he made to the people of the Upper East Region ahead of the 2012 presidential elections, an indication that he does not have the interest of the people of the region at heart.

Speaking at a press conference in Bolgatanga Thursday July 14, in response to the president’s visit to the region as part of his Accounting to the People tour, Mr. Murtala said: “The president only came to do sod cutting ahead of the November elections so that he will win votes from the people.”

He added: “It is regrettable that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government could not complete even a single one of the so-called 200 day senior high schools in the Upper East Region. Mr. President, where is our new regional hospital? Where is the Bolgantanga Sports Complex? Where is the Bolgatanga Polyclinic? Where is the Zuarungu Meat Factory? Where is the Pwalugu Tomato Factory?

“Now that we are convinced that President Mahama is not only incompetent but insensitive, we have no choice than to go for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo (flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party).”
