Being a polling agent is not an entitlement – LMVCA

Pressure Group, Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) have stated that being a polling agent is not an entitlement as some representatives of the major political parties in the country have made it seem.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, convener of the group, David Asante, said, “Some people in the major parties believe that it is their birth right to be polling agents even if they are not up to the task.”

According to him, this situation “must stop”, while adding that wrong people should not be picked to watch over the ballot boxes on the day of election.

Mr Asante stated that “this year’s election is a serious business we all must be interested in as citizens.”
He further called on political parties to allow the professionals who have been given the mandate to do their job in order for a credible election process to materialize.
