Asamoah Boateng elected NPP candidate for Mfantseman

Kormantse (C/R), Oct. 27, GNA – Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, a Deputy Minister of Information, was at the weekend elected the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Nfantseman constituency.
He polled 98 out of the 137 total votes cast to beat two other contestants, Mr. William Samuel Ocran who had 35 and Colonel Isaac Rockson (rtd.) who got three votes. One ballot paper was rejected. Mr. John Mensah, the Mfantseman District Election Officer and his team of officials supervised the election.
Mr. J G. Ehuren, Constituency Chairman, in an address preceding the elections appealed to the Electoral College, made up of chairmen of the 130 polling stations in the constituency and the constituency executives to elect a candidate who could lead them to win the seat from the National Democratic Congress and also help bring development to the area.
Dr Dan Botwe, General Secretary, said the Mfantseman West seat was one of 140 seats the NPP was determined to win in next year’s elections and urged members in the area no to disappoint the leadership of the party.
Dr Botwe cautioned supporters of the losing candidates against creating disunity in the party.
Mr. Isaac Edumadze, Central Regional Minister advised the two losers to co-operate with the party hierarchy to help win the seat. Dr Kweku Nunoo Ghartey, Central Regional Chairman cautioned members against indulging in activities which could tarnish the image of the party.
Both Mr. Ocran and Col. Rockson pledged to cooperate with Mr. Asamoah to win the seat.
