Fire consumes 5-bedroom house in Ejisu

Fire has razed a 5-bedroom property at Tikrom, close to Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

The incident occurred at dawn on Saturday, July 9. The inferno destroyed domestic property worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

Clothes, TV sets and an unspecified amount of money were completely ruined by the inferno.

Speaking to Class News, the owner of the building, Yaw Opoku, said the area was first plunged into darkness at night. Power was restored later, after which explosions were heard as people slept. Fire from the explosion then spread through the other rooms.

Mr. Opoku said he suspects the power fluctuation caused the fire outbreak. Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) managed to extinguish the flames.
