Mfantsipim School’s sprint sensation, Joseph Andoh Kwofie is making waves, and he’s caught the attention of the highest levels in Ghana athletics.
During the 2025 Accra Open Championship held on Saturday May 17 at the University of Ghana Stadium, the President of Ghana Athletes, Bawa Fuseini, singled out the young sprinter for special praise.
“Joseph Andoh Kwofie is an amazing athlete from Mfantsipim. We took him to Cote d’Ivoire two years ago and to Zambia for the African Championship. He’s one of the athletes we are looking forward to developing.”
Joseph was among over 800 athletes from across the nation competing at the event’s third edition, which continues to grow in prestige as a proving ground for emerging track and field talents.
Fuseini also addressed the delicate balance between local development and international collaboration. “Sometimes there are issues between their coaches and partners in the USA,” he noted. “If the athlete comes to us for support or guidance, we’ll always offer it. But if he wants to work with private coaches or counterparts in the USA, all is good for Mother Ghana.”
With a growing reputation and the backing of national leadership, Kwofie’s path to international athletics stardom is clearly in motion.
