Stop issuing building permits to residents near Kasoa toll booth – Ayariga

Minister for Science, Environment, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariga says the Ga South District Assembly will no longer issue permits to builders on the hill near the Kasoa toll booth.

The directive is part of moves to prevent continuous blockade of the Kasoa-Weija road when it rains.

Parts of the hill across the Weija dam erode onto the highway whenever it rains, thereby, preventing motorists from the western corridor from entering the capital.

Mahama Ayariga commenting further on the issue on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday said the government has charged security officers operating in the dam’s catchment area to ensure that the directive to land owners on the hill is respected.

He was responding to a question posed by the Member for Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro, Bright Edward Demordzi.

The MP had asked the Minister what plans the Ministry has to stop the soil erosion and environmental degradation of Bortianor Weija Hill that continues to course inconvenience and danger to motorists on the Mallam-Winneba road at Machigeni.
