Abutia Citizens Donate Electric Poles

Accra, (Greater Accra) 10 Nov. Members of the Accra-Tema branch of the Abutia Youth Association, a development-oriented society of citizens from Abutia in the Ho District, have donated 110 low tension poles valued at 15 million cedis for the town’s electrification project. Mr. George Adom, chairman of the association who disclosed this to newsmen at their general meeting in Accra at the weekend, said members contributed 40,000 cedis each with resident citizens paying a flat rate of 8,000 cedis in addition to communal labour. He said the association was also actively involved in the construction of five kvip’s in the town at an estimated cost of 11 million cedis, and the provision of a senior secondary technical school. Mr. Adom commended two non-governmental organizations, namely FES of Germany and DANIDA, for supplementing their efforts with financial assistance towards the school and the provision of good-drinking water, respectively. He invited citizens of the town in the Accra-Tema metropolis who are not yet members of the association to join it because it is the collective responsibility of all to help develop the town.
