Kumasi South Hospital to be ready soon – Segbefi

Ongoing works at the maternity block of the Kumasi South Hospital in Ashanti are about 70 percent complete, Minister of Health Alex Segbefi has revealed.

Speaking on the floor of Ghana’s parliament Tuesday, July 5, he revealed that the ministry had put in place plans and measures to ensure that works are completed soon.

Answering a question posed by Patricia Appiagyei, Member of Parliament for Asokwa constituency, where the hospital sits, the minister said: “The ministry is aware of the fact the Member of Parliament [for Asokwa] started the construction of the maternity block project in 2014 with the support of the MP’s allocation under the National Health Insurance Authority”.

“Currently, the civil works are about 70 percent complete. The ministry will undertake an assessment to ascertain the outstanding works and estimates…and subsequently consider its inclusion in the 2017 catalyst expenditure budget of the ministry.”
