Only God enstools Kings – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has indicated that only God chooses Kings and that his opponents will toil in vain if they are not destined to lead the country in accordance with his will.

He urged the electorates to use their votes to elect a president than resorting to violence which will not augur well for the nation.

He admonished that it is not necessary to use violence to wrestle power.

‘Human beings vote but God chooses a King, so we will all exercise our franchise on the elections day without any fear, the Lord will choose a King deemed fit for us come elections day.

There is no need to cause trouble on the day. If he (God) decides that you (opponents) will be kings, you will be, but if he refuses, there is no way you can be president. You can go heaven and earth, you will never be a king. So let’s vote in peace,’ he said.

He observed that some of the political parties have resorted to tormenting and insulting the Electoral Commission (EC) Chair Charlotte Osei, saying the organisation of elections by EC over the years has been devoid of problems.

‘We should allow the EC officials to do their work, we should be mindful of our utterances, if you are in higher positions, you are a dignified being who people look up to you, your comments should unite people, insult is not the best, we are all one people, we are all Ghanaians, if you are an Akan, a Fanti, Dagomba, Frafrani, Ayigbeni, we should all work together to maintain peace in the country, we should project Ghana to the world through our good deeds, the Lord has blessed Ghana and will continue to bless us,’ the president gave this advice during his ‘accounting to the people tour’ in the Ashanti region.
