IPR week launched

Accra Oct.24, GNA – Mr Kwaku Osei Bimpong, President of the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) on Friday said effective public relations practice thrived on the truth.

He said to achieve a healthy public image, as public relations officers, “we need to create an environment which works for openness, transparency and accountability which are hallmarks of good governance”. He said leaders in government, politicians and civil society all have a lot to learn to promote the democratic culture and values,” he added.

Mr Bimpong, who was launching the IPR annual week celebrations at a ceremony in Accra under the theme: “Good corporate governance-the role of public relations,” said the importance of good governance, at the national and enterprise levels were necessary ingredients for development.

He said at the national level, Ghana’s democracy was relatively young, but “we all have to assist to grow it to acceptable standards, which make progress and peace”. 24 Oct. 03
