Minister’s boy kills motor rider

A Toyota Tundra pick-up with registration number NR-9-2015 believed to be the vehicle of Murtala Mohammed, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Nanton in the Northern Region, who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, knocked and killed a motor rider in Tamale in the Northern Region.

Investigations conducted by DAILY GUIDE revealed that Solomon Oppong Yeboah, 24, and Humu Salifu, 22, were knocked down by the vehicle and were rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for medical attention.

Solomon Oppong Yeboah passed on shortly after arrival at the hospital while Humu Salifu is reportedly in critical condition due to the severe injuries she sustained.

The incident happened Tuesday night at the Tamale Sports Stadium near the VVIP gate towards the Sagnarigu direction.

Information gathered by DAILY GUIDE indicated that the driver of the car, Adam Abukari, is one of Murtala’s boys and that he was teaching a lady how to drive at the time of the incident. This reportedly happened at the old airport in Nyohini when Adams made the lady drive towards the stadium.

An eyewitness at the scene, one Alhassan, told DAILY GUIDE that he was using the same road when he saw that the driver lost control and ran into the motor rider.

The two occupants of the vehicle are currently in police custody assisting them in investigations.

The Northern Regional Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the arrest toDAILY GUIDE, said the two were in police custody assisting them in their investigations into the matter.

According to him, both the Toyota Tundra and the motorbike had been towed to the Tamale Police Station by the police for further investigations.
