Replanting of Kabo Forest Reserves underway

Asato-Akan (V/R), Oct. 23, GNA – The people of Asato-Akan in the Kadjebi District of the Volta Region have embarked on the replanting of degraded portions of the Kabo Forest Reserve covering about 500 hectares.

The Odikro of Asato, Nana Kankam Boadu, announced this to newsmen on Monday, after he had led the youth to undertake a tree-planting and pruning exercise in the Reserves.

He said the Forestry Services Division had provided thousands of various tree species towards the exercise, which is being sponsored by the Forum Project, a German NGO.

Nana Boadu said the project, which began three years ago would be intensified under the President’s Special Initiative on Tree Plantations to ensure that the entire Reserves was replanted. He commended the government for awarding contracts for the rehabilitation of feeder roads leading to the Reserves.
