Drunkard volunteers would be dismissed

Agona Swedru (C/R), Oct. 23, GNA – The Acting Director of Health Services for Agona District has warned that drunkard supervisors and volunteers for the National Polio exercise would be asked to go home. She said this year’s polio exercise has been declared as an emergency, so everything possible should be done to ensure its efficiency and success.

Mrs Borton gave the warning when she addressed a committee of supervisors as part of the preparation towards the national exercise, which begins on Friday 24 Oct. 2003.

She said a total of 97,913 children under five years of age would be immunised in the district in the three-day exercise. The Acting Director called on the chiefs, assembly members and opinion leaders in the district to assist the volunteers and supervisors to promote the exercise.

Ms Borton asked parents, especially nursing mothers to spare a little time to ensure that their children are immunised to protect them from certain diseases.
