Duakwa gets new queenmother

Agona Duakwa, October 23, (C/R), GNA- Ms Elizabeth Amusah, a 45-year-old secretary of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission has been installed as the new queenmother of Agona Duakwa.

Ms Amusah, whose stool name is Nana Efuah Amowiwa V, succeeds her grand mother, the late Nana Efuah Amowiwa IV, who died three years ago. Speaking at the function, Nana Kojo Amoakwa the sixth, chief of the town, reminded the new queenmother of her social responsibility to unite the people to undertake development projects to raise their living standards.

Nana Amoakwa charged her to sensitise women on the need to send the gild-child to school instead of keeping her in the kitchen. The chief reminded parents in the area that bye-laws instituted by the Traditional Council were meant to instil discipline in the youth by forcing them to stick to their books in the evenings and to help mould their characters.

He advised school children not to indulge in immoral practices, like sex, in order to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS. The new queenmother pledged to lead the people to initiate projects to help speed up the area’s development.
