Police arrests man with pistol

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Oct. 22, GNA – The Police at Dormaa-Ahenkro, have arrested one Yaw Mensah, a native at Bonsukrom in the Western Region for possessing a locally manufactured pistol.

Mr C. S. M. Brew, Dormaa District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that Mensah was arrested on October 12 when the Police intercepted a Nissan Urvan Bus at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

He said the car being driven by one Emmanuel Owusu, was travelling from Berekum to Nkrankwanta.

The Police Commander said after searching the passengers and the car, a locally manufactured pistol was found on Mensah. He said the suspect told Police during interrogation that he bought the pistol at Bonsukrom market.

Mensah has been remanded in Police custody, while the docket has been sent to the Attorney General for advice.
