BNI poll or not, Nana will win 2016 election – NPP

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said it will win the forthcoming polls irrespective of any surveys, which may either swing the pendulum in the party’s favour or not.

On Monday June 27, the Daily Guide Newspaper reported that a secret survey by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), with support from a pollster, whose name was withheld by the paper, has raised doubts about President John Mahama and his ruling National Democratic Congress winning the upcoming general elections.

The report, which the paper said has since been kept under wraps, was compiled in March this year, and paints a gloomy picture about the NDC’s chances in the elections.

It was carried out in all the 10 regions of the country. It put Mr Akufo-Addo and the NPP (51.85%) ahead of Mr Mahama and the (41.52%).

It further added that Mr Ivor Greenstreet of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) had 2.10% while the candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr Edward Nasigri Mahama, had 1.98%. All other parties jointly scored 2.55%.

Nana Obiri Boahen, a deputy general secretary of the NPP said on Monday that the fortunes of the biggest opposition party are not dependent on the results of any survey, adding that the NPP will certainly emerge the victor. “We are going to win, we are winning. For some of us the most important thing is that we are going all out, whether BNI report or no BNI report, whether National security report or no national security report, whether CID or no CID report, we are going round [campaigning] and we are going to win,” he told Citi News on Monday June 27.
