About one billion cedis is needed to complete on-going and abandoned projects under a five-year development plan for the people of Obomeng in the Aduanaman Traditional Area of the Eastern Region. Nana Obeng Akrofi, Obomenghene, told the GNA in an interview after a meeting with stool elders and opinion leaders that they need financial assistance to complete the projects. The meeting which formed part of their ‘Awukudae’ festival, discussed how to finance projects. It said the Kwahu South District Assembly had not done enough to assist them to improve their living conditions. Nana Akrofi, who is also the Adontenhene of the Aduanaman Traditional Area, said the projects include a 450 million-cedi palace to replace the dilapidated one which has been demolished, a 30 million-cedi market with six stores and 12 stalls. He said 30 million cedis has so far been spent on the palace while 11 million cedis has been spent on the market. The other projects are the Local Authority Primary School block estimated at 62 million cedis and a community centre estimated at 150 million cedis. About 50 million cedis has so far been spent on the community centre. He said all the projects were being financed through contributions from Obomeng businessmen, Obomeng Kuo, Youth Club and Youngsters Club while the people provide communal labour. The Obomenghene appealed to non-resident citizens, benevolent societies and the district assembly to assist them to complete the projects.
