EC not ready for election 2016 – Sir John

A former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie affectionately called Sir John has revealed that the Electoral Commission (EC) is not battle-ready for the 2016 general elections.

He alleges that the conduct of the EC in recent times is a clear manifestation that it is not adequately prepared for the polls and therefore has doubts if the proposed November 7 date will be feasible.

“They are sleeping on the job. They are not well prepared for the 2016 elections and I can tell you that the November 7 date is not possible,” he told Lantam Papanko on the ultimate breakfast show.

Sir John Stated that the indifferent attitude of the EC and its chairperson Madam Charlotte Osei is inimical to the peaceful conduct of the polls especially when it becomes defiant to directives of the highest court of the land.

“We will not allow the EC to plunge the whole country into chaos,” he said.
