Hearts of Oak sack coach Kenichi

Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak have fired their Japanese coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi on Monday following a meeting with the board of the club, Footballghana.com has reported.

The tactician who also holds American nationality was officially informed of the decision on Monday after a board meeting.

He was sacked after just six months in charge of the Phobians and has been credited with reviving the fortunes of the Accra giants.

Hearts are fourth on the league table after the first round of the league with seven wins, five draws and three losses.

However, a fractious relationship with the club’s board looks to have forced the decision to sack the coach who is accused of not cooperating with the board of the club.

The Japanese trainer went into the dark books of the Phobian management following his famous Facebook post claiming his backroom staff and players were owed salaries and winning bonuses.

The management sent signals of the sacking of the former Aspire Academy trainer, but the supporters kept kicking against the decision insisting the coach has rekindled the team spirit.

But Kenichi, before his appointment, was a high school trainer but has succeeded in building an impressive away record for the Phobians.

The former Aspire Academy tactician was totally blacklisted by the Management of the Phobians following his refusal to allow management member Vincent Sowah-Odotei into the team’s dressing room during the first half of their clash with Liberty Professionals.

Reports emerged after the side’s loss to the Dansoman-based side that the Japanese trainer was set for the sack with some of the management members claiming he has a poor home record.

The Phobians have recorded an impressive away record in the first round of the league, winning four and drawing four in their away encounters while losing three, winning three and drawing one at home.

Kenichi’s flamboyance and social interactiveness has seen the Oak family drawing fans to their league matches in a manner the Phobians have missed for years.

Attached is a statement detailing his departure from the club.
