Nana Addo’s 1 district, 1 factory promise “cheap talk” – Bagbin

The majority leader in Parliament, Alban Bagbin has described the claims by the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party to build a factory in every district in the country as “empty boast” and “cheap talk.”

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said as part of plans to industrialise and transform the Ghanaian economy; his government plans to help establish a factory in each of the 216 districts across the country if he wins the 2016 elections.

Nana Akufo-Addo made this announcement while touring the Ajumako/Enyan/Essiam, Mfantseman and Abura/Asebu/Kwamankese constituencies in the Central region on Saturday, June 18, day 3 of his 5-day tour of the region.

His comments have drawn widespread condemnation by members of the ruling National Democratic Congress who have described the promise as unrealistic.

Speaking on Class FM Monday, the Nadowli-Kaleo Member of Parliament said Nana Addo’s promise “cannot be done even in eight years.”

Hon. Bagbin added “It is not feasible…People should take it with not just a pinch of salt, but with the contempt that it deserves.”

The former Health Minister added that Nana Addo should be “more practical and more realistic…and come to earth and try to make the people believe what he is saying…I’m really surprised with this kind of statement; I hope and pray that he never said that.”
