GHC14,000 stolen in foiled Somanya robbery attack

It has emerged that an amount of GHC14,000 was stolen in the robbery attack on the Manya Krobo Klo rural bank at Somanya in the Eastern region.

The Police in Somanya have also retrieved two pump action guns and some other tools that were used by the alleged robbers who embarked on the operation Saturday.

Meanwhile, one of the robbers was killed in a gun fire exchange with the Police after the police arrived on the scene following a distress call.

According to the Somanya Police Commander ASP Isaac Otsin, the police received a distress call that the robbers were attacking the bank at about 2:55am. He said he quickly dispatched men to the location and the operation was foiled after an intense gun battle.
