Cape Coast,(Central Region) Nov. 7 A Central Regional public tribunal at Cape Coast today adjourned to December two the case in which a former Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Kofi Amankwah Peasah, has been charged with possessing papers adapted for forgery of currency notes. The adjournment was at the instance of the prosecutor who told the tribunal that he had to ascertain how far the investigator in charge of the case had complied with directives given by the Attorney- General’s office when the case docket was sent there for advice. The prosecutor, Chief Inspector J.K. Acheampong, later told newsmen that the directive was to the effect that one other person who was travelling with Mr Peasah at the time of his arrest should be jointly charged with him on the grounds that he had full knowledge of the attempted commission of the crime. He was also said to be travelling with Mr Peasah to aid him to procure some chemicals. He, however, noted that the identity of the person could not be disclosed for security reasons. The former minister who is on a five million-cedi bail was arrested on July 12 at the police-check-point at Moree, near Cape Coast, while travelling from Accra to Takoradi with eight bundles of black paper allegedly to look for chemicals to transform them into currency notes.
