NPA gives high marks to RCC for peace effort

The National Peace Council (NPC) has applauded the Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) for its strong commitment and proactive measures to deal with conflicts.

Alhaji Suallah Abdallah, the Regional Executive Secretary, said its quickness of decision and action when it came to the management of conflicts had been admirable.

He gave the commendation, when he received a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle donated to the NPC by the RCC.

On hand to present the vehicle in a ceremony in Sunyani, was the Regional Minister, Mr. Eric Opoku.

Alhaji Abdallah said chieftaincy disputes remained a huge threat to the peace and stability of the region and pledged that the NPC would continue to work hard to get these amicably settled.

The vehicle, he noted, would enable it to reach out to the conflict areas to engage the factions – to find common ground.

Mr. Opoku underlined that conflict resolution and peace building was a shared responsibility and invited everybody to support the NPC to efficiently discharge its mandate.

He urged the NPC to focus more effort on helping to resolve the many chieftaincy disputes in the region.

He advised supporters of the various political parties to respect and tolerate the views of their opponents.
