2016 polls: Demand issues-based campaign – Peace Council

The National Peace Council has advised Ghanaians to demand issues-based campaign as politicians canvass for their votes ahead of the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The council is also asking Ghanaians to exercise high level of tolerance for divergent views in the electioneering season in order to sustain the peace and tranquility in the country.

Speaking at the launch of a peace campaign in Accra, the chairman of the National Peace Council Professor Emmanuel Asante urged both politicians and electorates to be civil towards each other.

The peace initiative dubbed ‘Muslim and Zongo communities for peaceful election 2016’ will target flash points within the 250 constituencies across the country.
