Maxwell Kofi Jumah wants government to investigate Bernard Allotey Jacobs, a member of the governing board of the Ghana National Petroleum Authority (NPA) over his official trip to the United States of America involving a transaction between NPA and Authentix, a petroleum company in the US.
According to him, all allegations made about Allotey’s trip to the USA must be probed into by authorities in Ghana and the US government.
“This is a political routine so he [Allotey Jacobs] must be investigated. If indeed he had that alleged money on him to the US which our laws doesn’t permit, then we must find answers to some questions. What is he going to use the money for, is the money for him, or …?” he said in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.
The former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly boss joined the campaign of his party in a statement that the leading NDC man must be investigated for his US brouhaha.
The NPP in a statement issued by Nana Akomea, NPP’s Communications Director on Tuesday said “If this trip is sponsored by the Ghanaian taxpayer, we wish to know if it is in consonance with the recent directive from the Office of Chief of Staff, ostensibly issued to curtail wasteful, expensive, luxurious travels by public officials.
“If Allotey Jacobs’ trip, as he boldly stated on radio Monday, is being funded by Authentix, then we wish to draw the attention of the United States government to a possible breach of Federal rules.”
