Community Health nurses declare strike over unfair treatment

The Community Health Nurses Association of Ghana has declared an indefinite strike.

The group is protesting what they describe as unfair treatment, discrimination and disrespect they receive from the health ministry and the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

They are also lamenting the disregard of their duties and the consistent referral to them as nurse-assistants.

They are therefore demanding the immediate revision of their position to community health nurses.

The health workers also claimed, in a statement, that they are not given the appropriate certification after they complete a ministry of health sanctioned diploma course at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
