Residents alarmed as lunatics invade Sunyani

Residents of Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region are reportedly alarmed at the high number of mental patients roaming the streets in the metropolis.

They have complained about the nuisance and danger such persons pose to them.

According to the mental health department in the region, over 400 mentally deranged persons are on the streets.

Families have refused to cater for them while the state lacks rehabilitation structures for them.

Starr News’ Western regional correspondent, Michael Mfum Sarpong reports that it is unknown where the naked and dangerously looking mentally retarded persons are coming from.

Some of the residents who spoke to Starr News indicated that they sometimes have to protect themselves from attacks from the mental patients.
