IGP’s wife warns spouses of Police officers

The Leadership of the Police Wives Association (POLWA) has called for the stop of political activities in the various police barracks across the country by spouses of police officers.

It has also cautioned against the chanting of political slogans and wearing of political party paraphernalia as the 2016 general elections approaches as it will enable the police play a neutral role during the polls.

Speaking at a peace walk in the Upper West Regional Capital, Wa, the President of the Association, Charity Kudalor, expressed hope that the directives will be adhered to, in order to ensure any chaotic scenes in the run-up to the elections which promises to be keenly contested between the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“As we are all aware, our husbands by the nature of their work are not supposed to be involved in open party politics, so as we are their wives at the barracks we are not expected to be involved in partisan politics. I mean you don’t have to wear any political party T shirts, chanting party songs and making political arguments at the barracks, we are prohibited from doing that. We are also not to allow our children or those living with us under our roof to do that.”

Mrs Charity Kudalor further called on women to be ambassadors of peace during the elections.
