Akuapem Nifahene dead

The Akuapem Nifa Traditional Council has officially announced the passing on of Osuodumgya Otutu Kono III, the Akuapem Nifahene and Adukromhene.

The late chief, whose demise occurred on January 31, 2016, and known in private life as Justice Atta Asare Korang, was a retired judge of the Court of Appeal.

Addressing the media at Adukrom-Akuapem on Saturday, May 21, Osabarima Opese Kunadu II, the Acting Akuapem Nifahene, announced that the funeral of the chief would take place from August 2 to 8, 2016.

He said as part of the funeral rites and activities to pay homage to the late chief, there would be a ban on noisemaking from the 10th of July, 2016 till the end of the final rites.

“During this period there will be no funerals, weddings, etc. within the Akuapem Nifa Division,” he added.

Osabarima Opese Konadu II called on corporate bodies and individuals to offer their support in preparation to bid farewell to the late Akuapem Nifahene.

He also appealed to the people of the Nifa Division to let the demise of Osuodumgya Otutu Kono unite them.

The late Adukromhene reigned for nearly 14 years from 2002 to 2016.

He was 71.
