Koforidua Mission 2003 launched

Koforidua, Oct. 3, GNA – The Koforidua Local Council of Churches in conjunction with African Enterprise (AE), an interdenominational, international evangelistic organisation, on Friday launched its Christian Outreach work, dubbed: “Koforidua Mission 2003”, at Koforidua. The programme, which has “Koforidua arise and shine, for the Lord has come”, as its theme, will start from the October 18 to 25, 2003, as the main outreach period of proclamation.

The Deputy International Team leader responsible for the area, Rev. Dr. Nii Amoo Darku, disclosed that the AE, since its inception has taken 300 street children through skill training in Accra, while 60 prostitutes in Kumasi have been made to desist from the practice. He said, 28 women, out of 60 in Kumasi have been taken through various skill training such as batik, tie and dye, soap making, sewing and dressmaking and about 1.5 million cedis was given to them as seed money to start their businesses. He announced that as part of the programme in Koforidua, Ministers of the gospel will preach the “Good news” to various communities,in Koforidua and surrounding areas. He said evangelistic meetings would also be held in schools, hospitals, prisons, police stations and any community.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Adjei Boateng, who launched the programme acknowledged the active collaboration and partnership that Religious organisations have been offering in the governance of the nation. He therefore, stressed the need that, “we must necessarily strengthen this partnership so that, together, we can ensure that our people responsibly enjoy their freedom, rights and take advantage of opportunities presented them by our democratic dispensation”.
