Minister hands over rehabilitated dormitory

Deputy Minister for pre-Tertiary Education, Mr Alex Kyeremeh, has inaugurated the refurbished girls’ dormitory of the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS) in a ceremony at Effiduase near Koforidua.

The two-story block had been destroyed by fire on March 17, creating huge discomfort and severe accommodation problem for about 600 girls in the school.

Nobody was hurt, but the victims had their books, clothes and other valuables completely ravaged by the fire.

Mr. Kyeremeh said the government had planned to build an additional dormitory to create more space for fresh students, who would be admitted into the school, next academic year, to ease congestion.

The Very Reverend Abraham Osei Donkor, the Headmaster, used the occasion to express appreciation to the Education Ministry, the Old Students Association, individuals and organizations, for the tremendous support by way of donation of books and other learning aids, food and other materials.
