Ghana is fast becoming industrial, manufacturing country – Amb. Okaikoi

Ghana under the leadership of H.E President John Dramani Mahama is fast moving from a raw material producing country to an industrialised and manufacturing country by adding value to its natural resources.

President John Mahama has placed Ghana among the growing list of promising new emerging economies in Africa, thus attracting partners from all the major economic powers.

Hardworking Ghana Ambassador to the Czech Republic, H.E Mrs. Zita Sabah Okaikoi made this known at a round table discussion with her colleague African ambassadors from Morocco, South Africa, DR Congo, Egypt and Sudan at the Metropolitan University in Prague.

Addressing the meeting under the theme, “Prospects of Africa” Ambassador Zita Okaikoi announced that business opportunities abound in Ghana, as the John Mahama-led government is working at shifting focus in moving Ghana from a raw material producing country to an industrialized and manufacturing country by adding value to our natural resources.

She said the Mahama-led administration have implemented a vigorous policy aimed at achieving energy security to place Ghana as a hub of energy export in the ECOWAS sub-region.

She explain that, Ghana, with rapid economic growth of 6% or more per year for the last 8 years, dynamic formation of democratic management systems, modern structures and institutions of a market economy, a major player in the market of natural and human resources, a key source of growth in global demands, profitable spheres of investment operations, is good for business and investment.

Ambassador Okaikoi used the opportunity to educate them on prospects of Ghana in particular, agriculture, tourism, oil and gas, energy, production and agro-processing.

She emphasised the Government of Ghana’s commitment towards education as a means of empowering the youth and more especially women.

Ambassador Zita Okaikoi further advised them to ignore the negative reportage on Africa and further urged them to visit Africa, especially Ghana, to experience the beautiful landscape and a wonderful hospitality from the great people of Ghana.

She said the location of Ghana within the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) region alone constitutes a market of over 250 million people in the Region, which alone guarantees a huge market share and profit.
