One killed, houses torched in renewed Sayeegu, Sambiruk clashes

One person has been confirmed dead and several houses torched in renewed clashes between the Sayeegu and Sambiruk communities near Nankpanduri in the Northern region.

The two communities, according to Starr News’ Eliasu Tanko, are fighting over a parcel of land.

The Northern regional Police PRO Ebenezer Tetteh who confirmed the incident said the deceased, Minkaya, passed on around 5:30 Tuesday morning when the hostilities escalated. It is unclear the circumstances surrounding his killing.

Residents are reportedly fleeing the communities out of fear for their lives.

The two communities were recently involved in a fight over a similar issue.
