Fake Landlord Before Tribunal

Accra,(Greater Accra) 6 Nov. An Accra circuit tribunal is trying a man charged with fraud for allegedly collecting a total of 2.7 million cedis in rent advance from prospective tenants. Christian Adorsi, a 50-year-old mechanic, who has pleaded not guilty on three counts of fraud is on a two million-cedi bail, to reappear on November 12. The prosecution said Adorsi, who lives at Dansoman, Accra, posed as a landlord when a friend asked him to supervise the completion of a building at Dansoman. In September last year, Adorsi collected 1.3 million cedis as rent advance from Mr Francis Honu, a civil servant who approached him for accommodation. According to the prosecution, in June, this year, Adorsi again collected 1,080,000 cedis from Mr Uche Chunye and 400,000 cedis from Miss Christiana Serwa, both civil servants in rent advances for the same building. The prosecution said after completion of the building, the owner rented it out to some other people.
