Fire destroys stores

Ho, Sept, 30, GNA – Three stores among a cluster at the OSA station at the Ho Central Market were on Tuesday gutted by fire. Items destroyed by the fire include personal effects, liquor and hardware worth millions of cedis.

Assistant Divisional Officer, Mr Sakutey Addo, Operational officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) who led a team of seven firemen and a tender told the Ghana News Agency that it took 15 minutes to put the fire under control.

He said the cause of the fire is being investigated but suspected an electrical fault.

Mr Addo said the fire, which started from the liquor bar quickly spread through the hardware and the paint stores. He advised the general public to be vigilant and report outbreak of fires for prompt action.

A few on-lookers commended the personnel of the GNFS for averting a major fire disaster by the swift response to the distress call. 30 Sept. 03
