Deputy Minister’s thugs assault NPP candidate

The Member of Parliament for Juaboso Constituency, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh is alleged to have led thugs to vandalize the car of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate, Martha Kwayie Manu.

The incident which reportedly happened at the Kefess Registration Centre near Bonsu Nkwanta on Thursday afternoon, also saw the candidate and her campaign team being assaulted by the ”Macho men” allegedly on the instruction of Hon. Akandoh.

Speaking to sit-in host, Akwasi Nsiah on Si Me So on Kasapa FM, Stephen Nani, Special aide to the NPP Parliamentary Candidate narrated that he and the rest of their campaign team had visited the said registration centre to monitor the progress of the exercise only for Hon. Akandoh’s alleged thugs to pounce on them unprovoked and beat them mercilessly.

“By the time we realized, the macho men who came out of Hon. Akandoh’s car started slapping us and hitting us with plastic chairs they picked at the centre while he (Akandoh) sat in his car and gave instructions. After the assault on us, he gave orders for the macho men to board his car and they left. None of us uttered a word before the attack, so we were surprised at their behavior. Probably his anger stems from the fact that we are resisting him from registering the people he brought from Ivory Coast to register in our constituency.”

Stephen Nani added that they lodged a formal complaint with the police who have since issued them with medical forms to attend hospital for treatment.

The NPP Candidate, Martha Kwayie Manu has accused Hon. Mintah Akandoh of busing people from Ivory Coast to register in Juaboso, an allegation the latter has vehemently denied.

Attempts by Kasapa FM to reach Hon. Akandoh for his side of the alleged assault incident proved futile.
