Manhyia North MP wants to kill me – NPP Organiser tells Police

Deputy Ashanti Regional NPP Organiser, Daniel Agyenim Boateng, has lodged a complaint against the Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwaa for threatening to kill him.

The case was lodged at the Moro Market Divisional Police Station in Tafo, a suburb of Kumasi on Thursday at about 11:00 GMT.

Boateng in his statement told the Police that he was on his usual rounds in the Manhyia North Constituency monitoring the ongoing Limited Voter Registration exercise when he received a telephone call from the MP of the area at about 9:25am.

The lawmaker, he noted, threatened him to leave the constituency failure of which “he will kill me if that is what I want”.

He further told the Police that prior to Thursday’s incident, Mr Amankwaa stormed his residence at South Africa in Buokrom Estate with some macho men and threatened his life if he fails to give them a soft copy of the recently updated constituency register.

Boateng’s statement in part read that had it not been the intervention of his pregnant wife who was hiding in her bedroom, the unfortunate incident may have happened.

He told Kasapafmonline.com in an interview that “the surprise thing is that I have just moved into my new house three days when Hon. Amankwaa and his macho men came attacking me”.

“When he came, I asked him how did you locate my house and he told me it’s something simple for him. My wife is pregnant and was hiding in her bedroom but upon hearing the persistent threats I should follow him to a colleagues house and give him the recently updated soft copy of the constituency register which was nullified by the region, she came out and told them that she will not allow me to leave the house at that 1:30pm of the day. Besides where we are is not the constituency’s office. So, I told him that I cannot go”, he narrated.

Boateng is the representative of the NPP in charge of elections in the Manhyia North Constituency together with former KMA boss, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.

He is also the party official mandated to monitor the ongoing Limited Voter Registration exercise in the constituency.
