Trader threatens to kill prosecutor

George Kwame Afum, a trader, has been sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court for defiling a 14 year old girl at Omanjor in Accra.

This was after the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin- Doku found him guilty on the charge of defilement at the end of the trial.

Following his conviction, Afum in open court threatened to kill the prosecutor Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire after serving his sentence.

Prosecution said the complainant Yaw Boafo was the victim’s uncle. The victim lived with an aunt at Omanjor with her husband who is the accused person.

During the month of August 2014, Afum’s wife left the house early in the morning and Afum went to see her off.

Soon after returning, prosecution said Afum jumped on the victim and had sex with the victim while sleeping.

According to prosecution, Afum repeated the act on four occasions.

An accomplice, one Owusu who is at large, also lured the victim behind their house and had sex with her.

The victim who became pregnant informed the complainant and he in turn reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU) Odorkor.

The Victim was issued with the medical form to visit the hospital for examination and treatment while Afum was then arrested.
