Court remands distiller for stealing

Nkawie (Ash), Sept. 28, GNA – Kwame Heloo, a 45-year-old Akpeteshie distiller, was last Thursday remanded by the Atwima District magistrate’s court at Nkawie for stealing a fowl.

He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on October 1. Police Inspector G.K. Letsah told the court that Kwadwo Bio, who resides at Nyamebekyere village near Nyinahin and reared fowls, experienced rampant theft of his fowls.

He said on September 23, this year, Bio detected once again that one of his fowls had been stolen.

Inspector Letsah said while looking for the fowl, someone told him that he saw the accused with the fowl so he rushed to a spot where the accused distilled his Akpeteshie and met him preparing soup with the stolen bird.

He said Heloo was apprehended and handed over to the police at Nyinahin, who after investigations charged him with the offence.
