Eleven die in accident

Mpatuam (Ash), Sept. 28, GNA – Eleven persons died on the spot and several others were seriously injured when a Mercedes Benz mini bus on which they were travelling collided head on with a tipper truck near Mpatuam in the Amansie West District of Ashanti on Saturday.

The dead included Nana Yaw, driver of the mini bus but the other dead passengers could not be identified immediately.

Those who were seriously injured were rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi while the bodies of the dead were also deposited at the mortuary at the same hospital for autopsy. Briefing the Ghana News Agency on the accident, the police at Ahwerewa said the mini bus, which was travelling from Kumasi to Mpatuam, left its lane on reaching a curve into the lane of the on-coming tipper truck resulting in a head on collision.
