Asakrangwa (W/R), Sept. 26, GNA- Mr Samuel Alberto Tekyi, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Wassa Amenfi said on Friday that democracy does not end after balloting, and rather it must be deepened by the people’s continued hard work to support government policies and programmes.
Mr Tekyi said this at a public forum organised by the district secretariat of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) at Asankrangwa to mark the Commission’s tenth anniversary.
He said CHRAJ as a constitutional body, must play its role to promote and protect democracy by adhering to its functions as enshrined in the constitution and urged officials of the Commission to intensify its public education programme on its roles and functions.
The DCE commended the District Secretariat of the Commission for settling a number of cases that would have caused broken homes or drag on at the law courts for a long time.
Mr Serdrick Sackey, District Director of CHRAJ said this year alone his outfit heard and disposed of 111 cases which were mainly on children’s rights, marital, intestate, wrongful dismissals, abuse of office, unlawful arrests and detention.
