EC logo and posture misplaced priority – Political parties

Various political parties at the launch of the Electoral Commission’s five-year Strategic Plan have termed the posture and the EC’s new logo as a misplaced priority in respect to the November polls.

According to the Chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Dr. Edmund Delle, inasmuch as the EC is independent, it must be seen to carry the interests of the parties to ensure transparency.

Dr. Edmund Delle noted the prevalence of tension of uncertainty and tasked the media not to focus only on the NPP and the NDC.

In his opinion, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong, launching of a logo and a 5-year strategic plan is misplaced priority adding that, what people want is a credible register.

Deputy Secretary of the governing NDC, Koku Anyidoho has opposed the position of the other parties asking them to leave the EC to carry out its mandate.

“The EC is not bound to consult any party in the pursuance of its mandate,” he said.
