Police Commander cautions youth against ‘wee’ smoking

The Western Regional Police Commander, ASP Daniel Wiafe has cautioned the youth in the area especially students to desist from smoking and possessing Indian hemp popularly known as ‘wee’ or risk being arrested.

ASP Daniel Wiafe who was speaking at an event organised by the Catholic Church at Sefwi Essam in the region said, the number of youth engaging in the sale and smoking of the illegal drug has become rampant hence the police will not relent in their efforts to arrest and prosecute anyone caught.

He also took the opportunity to inform the gathering of their intention to set up a neighbourhood watchdog committee in the area to help address the issue and further stop other criminal activities.

According to the Commander, the police has informed church leaders and elders in the community in that regard.

He told the gathering that the role of the police is maintain law and order and in doing so, any found capable of any crime will not be spared.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr. Alexander Ofori, and some other opinion leaders were also present at the event.
