Arrest attackers of Baah Achamfuor, Fox FM – Agyarko

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Emmanuel Agyarko, is calling on the Police to arrest activists of the party who disrupted a live radio programme in Kumasi on Monday and allegedly assaulted a member of the party .

Irate party thugs apparently sponsored by alleged officers of the party in the Ashanti Region, descended on Kumasi-based Fox FM and beat up a vocal party critic, Baa Achamfuor and host of the programme, Kwaku Kyeremanteng Nkansah (KK), during the live discussion.

Speaking on Atinka AM Drive hosted by Kwame Adinkra Tuesday, Mr. Agyarko described the attack as lawless and intolerant which must not be encouraged. He said the incident is uncalled for and must not be tolerated.

He urged the police to quickly investigate the matter without fear or favour, and prosecute whoever is culpable irrespective of the positions they hold in the party.

Meanwhile the Ashanti Regional Communication Department of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the attack as “reckless, inhumane and cancerous to the fledgling democracy the nation”.

“The NDC sees these dastardly attacks as reckless, inhumane and cancerous to the fledgling democracy the nation has enjoyed so far. This is so pitiful for a party that claims to have repealed the criminal libel law in an attempt to promoting free speech; an inalienable right.”

A statement issued by the NDC’s branch in Ashanti Region blames the attacks on “NPP’s Communications Director, Mr. Akwasi Kyei” whom the NDC accused of “blatantly violating the Code of Conduct set up by the inter-party elections tasforce ahead of this yaer’s general elections”.
