My husband didn’t design new EC logo – Osei

Electoral Commission Chair Charlotte Osei has said her husband did not design the new logo of the election management body as speculated by critics in some circles.

At a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, April 26, Mrs. Osei said: “And no, my husband didn’t design the logo, he is not a graphic artist”

The logo has stirred a lot of controversy in the country, with the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) wondering if a new logo was more of a priority than a compilation of a new register of cleaning of the existing one by the validation process.

Answering questions about whether the EC plagiarised the logo, which appears similar to that of a Turkish organisation, Mrs. Osei said: “We don’t feel we plagiarised their logo”.

“…I don’t think it looks like mine, I like mine better…it supports our strategic direction,” she added. The new logo is part of the EC’s branding processes. Asked if she knew the total cost of the branding exercise, Mrs. Osei said: “…I don’t know how much the branding cost,” explaining that many other things were yet to be done in connection with the branding exercise.
