Busongo gets new Health Pavilion

The Busongo Community Health Compound at Sirigu in the Kasena Nankana District in the Upper East Region has commissioned a pavilion expected to enhance health delivery in the area.

The construction of the pavilion was funded by The Rlg Foundation.

The facility has an office, a waiting area and is expected to facilate Family Planning, Ante-natal, child welfare services and also serve as an Adolescent Friendly Center.

Twelve communities including Abilateo, Tangasia, Tindongo, Wugingo and Amutamga are served by the center with common cases such as malaria, diarrhea, ARI, family planning, post and ante-natal services as well as child immunisation.

Speaking the commissioning ceremony, an official of the District Health Directorate, Mr Edward Agongo described the gesture as ” manner from Heaven”.

According to him, the facility will go along way to in their efforts to expand access to many individuals and communities in the catchment areas. He therefore commended The Rlg Foundation for the generous support.

Senior Midwifery Officer in-charge of Busongo, Madam Beatrice Kambase said with a population of 7,265, the existing facilities were inadequate to cope with the associated pressure.

” We are very excited we can now do more with this new pavilion “, she said. The Corporate Affairs Manager of Rlg Communications Group, Mr Emmanuel Arthur said the provision of the pavilion was in fulfilmentof of a promise 4 years ago to help improve health delivery in the communities.

He charged the community to take good care of the pavilion.

A representative of the local catholic health services, Peter Akudugu Ayamba expressed the gratitude of the community the Foundation for the support.

Present at the ceremony was the Area Manager of AfriKids, a British child focused NGO, Joe Asakibeem.
