N/R: Police intercepts bags of ‘wee’

The Northern regional police command has intercepted a Walawale bus containing two sacks of Indian hemp popularly referred to as ‘wee’.

Nyankonton Mu Nsem’s Prince Kwame Tamakloe said the wee was concealed under bags of charcoal which the bus driver, Mutala Mohammed, 25, and his mate Salifu Dagadu, 27, were transporting to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

Prince Kwame Tamakloe said the police arrested them after it conducted a search on the bus which was containing the parcels of wee concealed under the bags of charcoal.

The two suspects are currently under investigations.

In a related development, the command has also intercepted a Kumasi-bound bus containing 320 AK47 ammunition and two sets of magazines. Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, told Nyankonton Mu Nsem’s Prince Kwame Tamakloe in an interview that, the bus was arrested at Savelugu upon a tip-off.

He said police intelligence revealed that Sayibu Sandow, the bus driver, started his Journey from the Upper East region.

“Upon interrogation, he [Sayibu Sandow] told us that he bought the ammunitions from somebody in Bawku [in the Upper East Region] some years back and that he was taking them to Kumasi to offer them for sale. So we took him to court and he has since been remanded,” said ASP Ebenezer Tetteh.
