Construction defect in new court complex; washrooms closed

All washrooms in the new court complex in Accra have been closed due to a construction defect.

Workers are reportedly working to fix the defect that has bedeviled the seven-month-old edifice.

The defect, according to Starr News’ Wilberforce Asare was detected on the 18th of this month in the project which was commissioned in October last year.

The new complex accommodates 42 High Courts and has ancillary facilities like clinic and banking services attached to it.

The US$50 million project, which began in August 2011 was executed by Chinese Company, State Hualong Construction Limited, with funds from the Government of Ghana.

It is unclear when the works on the bathrooms will be completed and court authorities are yet to announce alternative avenues of convenience for justice seekers.
