Two unemployed persons have been fined GH¢1,200.00 each by a Tarkwa Circuit court for stealing a computer laptop worth GH¢1,400.00.
In default, the convicts would serve 24 months imprisonment each in hard labour.
They are Emmanuel Tetteh, 20 and Francis Kwame, 18, both unemployed pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry and stealing.
Prosecuting, Detective Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah, told the court that the complainant, Okyere Kwame, is a National Service Person and resides around the University of Mines and Technology in Tarkwa.
He said on March 21 between the hours of 17:30 and 21:60, some friends of the complainant visited him and after attending to them he decided to see them off a few meters from his house and so he did not lock his door.
On his return, the complainant detected that his computer laptop had been stolen from the room therefore, lodged a complaint with the police.
The prosecution said on March 23, the police received a tip-off that the stolen item was in possession of the convicts therefore the police raided their hide-out at the Tarkwa Railway Station and retrieved the item, which the complainant later identified.
